PURPOSE:To make it possible to inspect whether foreign matter is adhered to a body to be inspected and the position of the foreign matter, by a method wherein an inspection device is moved along the body to be inspected and the beam obtained by allowing the parallel beam from a beam source to transmit through the gap part of the body to be inspected is detected by a beam receiver, and the position detection signal and foreign matter detection signal from a position detecting and moving mechanism are processed. CONSTITUTION:A position detecting and moving mechanism 9' is controlled by a position detection control apparatus 10 to allow an inspection device 8' to move to the up-and-down direction and horizontal direction of a fuel aggregate 1. At this time, the laser beam from a laser oscillator 13 is converted to parallel laser beam 14 by a collimator lens through a scanner 15 to irradiate fuel rods. The laser beam 14 transmits the gaps between the fuel rods to be incident to a beam receiver 18 through a condensing lens 17. The foreign matter detection signal from the beam receiver 18 and the position detection signal from the moving mechanism 9' are sent to a signal processing unit 11 to be processed, and the presence of the foreign matter adhered to the fuel aggregate 1 and the position thereof are discriminated to be displayed on a monitor television. |
