PURPOSE:To obtain the input/output of a large quantity of secondary data, also with a PCM signal, by using a serial data in which each symbol of the secondary data is transmitted as a pair. CONSTITUTION:An input signal from a terminal 31 is changed to a PCM series signal, and a code parallel signal by serial/parallel converters 33 and 34, and through a multiplexer 35, etc., they are written at a RAM 40. And as for respective content, an error correction parity code is added on respective PCM signal and subcode by an error correction coding process at a parity generation circuit 42, then being stored at the RAM 40. At the RAM 40, the subcode from an I/O 43 is also written. And the RAM 40 is readout, and the data is changed to the serial data to be transmitted with the PCM signal, setting each symbol of the secondary data as the pair, and through a register 45, etc., it is recorded with a rotary head. Reproduction is performed in the same manner, and it is possible to process a large quantity of secondary data, with the PCM signal, without using a head for the subcode.
