PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in finishing accuracy for a free curved surface of a work, by joining a motor turning shaft and a grindstone support part together through a universal joint, while setting up a spring member, pressing the stone to a free surface of the work, between them. CONSTITUTION:A motor turning shaft 1 and a grindstone support part 2 are joined together through a universal joint 3, and in an interval between a disklike flange 4 being tightly attached to the turning shaft 1 and the grindstone support part 2, there is provided with a coil spring 7 which presses a cuplike grindstone 5 vertically to a free surface of a work 6. And, an attitude of the stone 5 is automatically adjusted so as to form a normal to a free curved surface of the work 6, for example, attaching it to an arm of an articulated robot and utilizing the normal pressing force of a coil spring 7 and a directional control function of the articulated robot. Thus, the free curved surface of the work is speedily and accurately grindable into excellent finishing.
