PURPOSE:To complete the function of automatic paper selection and to improve the operability of copying operation by permitting the start of copying operation even when there is no paper at a selected paper feed slot, searching for a paper feed slot where the best paper is set among other paper feed slots, and selecting the paper feed slot. CONSTITUTION:A control means is provided which retrieves the states of other paper feed slots by a paper detecting means even if the paper detecting means judges that there is no paper at the currently selected paper feed slot when a mode in which an automatic paper selecting means is put in operation is selected by an operating means. If there is even one paper feed slot where paper is present, which means allows the start of copying operation without starting a resetting means and searches for a paper feed slot where the best paper is set based on the copy magnification set by a magnification input means and original size when the size of an original is detected by an original size detecting means, thereby selecting the paper feed slot. |
