PURPOSE:To check an error correcting means by fetching data stored in a data storing means to an arithmetic processing part through an error correcting means at the time of data access and reading/writing data by the arithmetic processing part. CONSTITUTION:In a writing route for a data register 11a and a check bit register 11b, a CPU 13 writes test data and a check bit corresponding to the test data in the registers 11a, 11b. Under said status, the functions of a syndrome generator 31, an error estimating circuit 32 and a correcting circuit 33 are made effective and correction data outputted from the circuit 33 are inputted to the CPU 13 through a data analyzer 37. The CPU 13 decides whether the test data area accurately corrected or not based on the outputted test data and the input data, and when accurate correction is decided, the nomality of an error estimating and correcting system can be recognized.
