PURPOSE:To make a very beautiful image without a horizontal line or chromatic irregularity, by making a vertical deflection electrode of a metal, providing electrode portions on electric insulator layers on surfaces, through which an electron beam passes, and conjoining the metal portion of the vertical deflection electrode to a vertical convergence electrode. CONSTITUTION:A vertical deflection electrode 4 is made of a metal. Electrode portions 13a, 13b are provided on electric insulator layers 32, 33 on the surfaces of the vertical deflection electrode 4, through which an electron beam passes. The metal portion of the vertical deflection electrode 4 is conjoined to a vertical convergence electrode. It is preferable for the electric insulator layers, 32, 33 that glass pieces 34, 35 are secured with frit to the surfaces of the vertical deflection electrode 4, through which the electron beam passes. As a result, the vertical deflection electrode 4 warps, the warping can be corrected to secure the electrode in a straight state to make a beautiful image without a horizontal line or chromatic irregularity. Besides, an image display device is prevented from cracking, chipping or the like.
