METHOD FOR PROTECTING WALL OF MOLTEN IRON REFINING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To suppress the damage of the wall of a refining furnace in a blast furnace runner and to make the furnace usable continuously for a long period of time by injection an endothermic material to a high-temp. exhaust gas generated at the time of refining a molten iron in the above-mentioned refining furnace. CONSTITUTION:A refining material is blown through a nozzle 8 to the molten iron 4 flowing down in the blast furnace runner 2 to form slag 10 in the molten iron refining furnace 6. The atmosphere temp. in the furnace increases when the refining is started. The elevating temp. in the furnace is detected by a proper means and the endothermic material such as aq. NaOH soln. is sprayed together with air from a nozzle 12 in the form of mist into the atmosphere in the furnace. The amt. of the spray water is so adjusted that the temp. of the exhaust gas attains about 200-500 deg.C. The life of the wall of the refining furnace 6 is thereby effectively extended.
