摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a picture, by eliminating the discontinuity (the boundary between picture element) of a screen composed of a large number of picture elements in form of thin films. CONSTITUTION:A layer, in which a large number of thin films each shaped in a triangle 20 are disposed, is provided on a screen. The thin films have convex surfaces 15 to mix penetrating rays of light together. The thin films located in the centers of colored picture elements each made of a group of primary color element surfaces 1, 2, 3 mix parts of the rays of light from the primary color element surfaces, together, a sharply reproduce a proper color in accordance with the three-primary-color theory. The same mixing is performed by colored picture elements made of primary color surfaces 1'', 2'', 3''. Thin films for reproducing neutral tints are provided among the primary color elements and these colored picture elements reproduce combined colors in accordance with the three-primary-color theory. These films, thus forms picture elements with a higher density (four times higher than the original density) to improve the quality of a picture.
