PURPOSE:To improve the utilization efficiency of excitation light which illuminates a cumulative phosphor sheet by arranging a multilayered film filter between said sheet and a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:Transmission radiation image information on a subject is stored and recorded on the cumulative phosphor sheet 10. An excitation light source 2 which irradiates the sheet 10 with excitation light 14 and generates stimulated luminescent light 15 carrying the image information is provided above the sheet 10. Further, a line sensor 3 composed of a photoelectric transducing element which is divided into picture elements is provided below the sheet 10. The multilayered film filter 30 which reflects the excitation light 14 excellently and transmits the emitted light 15 excellently is arranged between the sheet 10 and sensor 3. Thus this filter 30 is provided and then the excitation light 14 is reflected and sent back to the sheet 10 again, so that the excitation light 14 can be utilized effectively to excite the sheet 10. Consequently, the titled device is obtained which is reduced in size and has a fast readout processing speed and high sensitivity.
