PURPOSE:To easily attach and detach a developing device to and from a recording device by providing a means which fixes and releases the developing device in the direction of an image carrier to the opposite end surface side from a side which faces the image carrier of the developing device. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the developing device 12 is detached from a machine body 29 for maintenance, etc., an operation lever 50 is rotated clockwise and then while an operation shaft 49 is rotated clockwise by the lever 50, a pressing member 51 is also rotated clockwise. At this time, the pressing part 63 of the pressing member 51 moves beyond the projection 70 of the vertical wall 66 of the casing 33 of the developing device 12 through the contraction of a spring 53 and then engages the 2nd projection 72 of a horizontal wall 67. Further, at the time of the stopper piece 60 of a holding member 52 is rotated until it abuts on the machine body 29, the developing device 12 moves horizontally on the horizontal wall 30 of the machine body 29 at right angles to the shaft of a photosensitive drum 10 and the abutting roller 40 of the developing device 12 is moved away from the photosensitive drum 10 by a specific gap, and the developing device 12 is drawn out to the front side in said state, and consequently the photosensitive drum 10 is taken out of the machine body 29 without being flawed.
