PURPOSE:To obtain good luminous efficiency and uniform luminance while simplifying arrangement of an induction coil by arranging a light-transmitting bulb enclosing a discharge body at least either right above or just under the coil wires in parallel of the inductive coil. CONSTITUTION:A bulb 1 is the bulb consisting of a sectionally circular glass tube or the like having a light-transmitting property and gas-tightness whose inside encloses a discharge gas body consisting of rare gas such as argon and metal vapor like mercury while a phosphor for converting ultra-violet rays to be radiated by discharge into visible light is applied to its inside wall surface. A plural number of the bulbs 1 formed in this way are arranged in parallel inside a shield frame 3 made of a conductive material to constitute a flat-shaped luminous source. Further, the coil wires 2a or 2b of an induction coil 2 are arranged so as to go along the lowest end of each bulb 1 in the longitudinal direction.
