PURPOSE:To operate a fixing device in an invariably stable state by arranging a temperature detecting element and a temperature overrise preventing element at both center symmetrical positions in contact with the surface of a heat roller. CONSTITUTION:The temperature detecting element 5 and temperature overrise preventing element 4 are provided at left and right symmetrical positions A and B about the lengthwise center O in contact with the surface of the heat roller 1 which abuts on a pressure roller 2. A heater 3 is connected to a power source 7 through an element 4 and powered off when the temperature rises above the rated temperature, and the element 5 is connected to a temperature controller 6 and controls the output of the power source to control the temperature of the heater 3. Consequently, the rated temperature of the temperature overrise preventing element 4 is set low and the safety of a fixing device is maintained.
