PURPOSE:To detect quantitatively and with a high accuracy the irradiance extending over a wide wavelength range, by bringing an output signal from a pyroelectric type radiation detecting element to full-wave rectification, synchronously with an optical shutter for intermitting an input radiation to the pyroelectric type radiation detecting element, and integrating it. CONSTITUTION:A light beam which is scarcely varied hourly is opened and closed hourly by an optical shutter 3, and this intermitted light beam is made incident on a pyroelectric radiation detecting element 2. Also, when a differential signal from a pre-amplifier 5, which has made to pass through the element 2 is integrated by an integrator 7, the differential signal is brought to full-wave rectification by a full-wave rectifier 6. A shutter driving device 4 is interlocked with the optical shutter 3 and generates a pulse synchronizing signal through single shot circuits 10, 11, respectively, at the time opening and at the time of closing of the shutter 3. The full-wave rectifier 6 executes a full-wave synchronizing rectification by opening and closing a gate by said pulse synchronizing signal. As for an output of the integrator 7, its amplitude is held by a sample holding circuit 8, and displayed by a display device 9.
