摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a high function switching circuit for wavelength multiplexed light capable of multiple address communication or the like by a simple constitution consisting of an optical branching circuit, a variable optical wavelength filter, and a wavelength converting circuit. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength multiplex signal propagated in an input-side optical waveguide 101 is branched to N-number of signals by an optical branching circuit 102. Branched wavelength multiplexed signals are sent to variable optical wavelength filters 103-1-6 having variable pass wavelengths, and only the optical signal having a predetermined wavelength passes through each of these filters by a control signal. Spatially separated wavelength signals are converted to optical signals having specific wavelengths by wavelength converting circuits 107-110, and emitted beams of light have wavelengths multiplexed again by an optical multiplexing circuit 111 and are led to an output-side optical waveguide 112. Since beams of light which pass variable optical wavelength filters 103-106 are converted to optical signals having specific wavelengths by wavelength converting circuits 107-110, optical signal conversion is possible if wavelengths of beams of light passing variable optical wavelength filters 103-106 are controlled.
