PURPOSE:To improve both of sharpness and graininess by forming >=2 color sensitive silver halide emulsion layers different in sensitivity, with higher sensitivity for a layer nearer to a support than for a farther layer, and incorporating in a photosensitive material a compound capable of releasing a diffusive development inhibitor at the time of development. CONSTITUTION:The 2 or more color sensitive silver halide emulsion layers different in sensitivity are formed, and at least one of these layers nearer to the support is higher in sensitivity than the farther layer, and the photosensitive material contains the compound capable of releasing the diffusive development inhibitor (DDI) at the time of development. Said diffusive DIR (development inhibitor releasing) compd. is shown by the formula. A DIR compd. capable of releasing a nondiffusive development inhibitor by intermolecular reaction may be used in combination with the diffusive DIR compd. Said >=2 color sensitive silver halide emulsion layers different in sensitivity are optional in their layer structure. When they are composed of 2, the layer nearer the support is made higher in sensitivity than the farther layer. |
