PURPOSE:To seam a three piece can without a fault of removing the can body, at the time of seaming a metal cap on the can body made of a flexible material to manufacture the three piece can, by improving an engaging relation between a flange edge of the can body and a lifter plate. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing the three piece can by seaming the metal cap on the body formed out of the flexible material, etc., the flange part 7 of the can body 6 is supported by the lifter plate 1 consisting of a flange supporting plate 2 and a stop ring 4, the can body 6 is interposed between the lifter plate 1 and a chuck to hold and seam. In this case, before seaming, a clearance is provided between the edge part 7 of the flange of the can body 6 and the inner wall 5 of the stop ring 4, the upper cap of the can body is fitted in the chuck pressed by ascending the lifter, and the flange 7 is expanded along with a beveling part 3 and the top edge 7 is pressed to contact with an inner wall 5 of the stop ring. The lifter plate and the can body is rotated as one body to apply a prescribed lifter pressure to the can body to seam, the flange 7, the beveling part 3 and the inner wall 5 are allowed closely to contact to surely perform centering the can body.
