PURPOSE:To generate a synchronizing signal accurately to make the adjusting operation easy by constituting a light deflecting part of a synchronizing signal generating means with a horizontal supporting plate, a flat spring, a reflecting mirror whose upper end is fixed, and an adjusting screw which adjusts the gap between the free end of the flat spring and the supporting plate from above. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal synchronizing signal generating means of a bicolor laser printer consists of a light deflecting part C, where a laser beam 40 is deflected by a reflecting mirror 19 placed in its moving range, and a beam detecting part D where the laser beam 40 is detected by a beam detector 44, to which the optical path length is approximately equal to that to a photosensitive drum 1, to generate the synchronizing signal. The light deflecting part C consists of a flat spring 46 fixed to a base 16 through a bracket by screws, the reflecting mirror 19 fixed to the free end of the flat spring, and an adjusting screw 47 which is so adjusted that the laser beam strikes the beam detector 44 most suitably. Sticking of dirt and dust to the reflecting mirror 19 is difficult because of the bracket 45 and its inclination phi to stabilize the laser beam 40 to the beam detector 44 for a long time.
