PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retarding epoxy resin composition excellent in moisture resistance, by melt-mixing a bismuth-containing inorganic ion exchanger with a brominated epoxy resin before adding an epoxy resin and other additives to this melt. CONSTITUTION:A bismuth-containing inorganic ion exchanger is mixed with a brominated epoxy resin. To this melt are added an epoxy resin, a curing agent, an inorganic filler and other additives, and the mixture is keanded. Said curing agents are generally those which undergo crosslinking with an epoxy resin, such as a phenol novolak, an acid anhydride and an amine. The inorganic fillers are silica, alumina, clay, mica, glass asbestos, etc. According to this process, free bromine generated from the brominated epoxy resin can be effectively controlled and a resin composition remarkablly excellent in moisture resistance can be obtained.
