This actuation device comprises a compasses element 1 the free ends of whose branches are articulated, one of them 3 under the skip B and the other 4 on the chassis A. Two jacks 2 contained in the same plane transverse to the vehicle are provided so as to open the compasses element 1 and thus cause the skip to tip. This arrangement substantially diminishes the bulk of the actuation device D in terms of height in the folded position and consequently lowers the centre of gravity of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
