<p>Automatic method for preventing wheel skidding during braking (7) and acceleration (8). The instantaneous rotational wheel speed is sensed (1) and from which an instantaneous absolute speed variation (3) is calculated. During braking, the brake is released (9) automatically when rotational speed either reduces so that speed variation (3) is greater (5) than a predetermined value (4), or when rotational speed approaches zero (10) with the vehicle still moving, and is applied (11) when rotational speed increases to a predetermined value after brake release (9). During acceleration (8) the brake is released when rotational speed falls (12) to said value (4) after the brake application (11), and is applied when rotational speed increases so that speed variation (3) is greater than said value (4). The brake remains unaffected (6) when speed variation (3) is less (5) than said value (4). According to the invention the brake is applied (11) on braking (7), or released (9) on acceleration (8), once a predetermined period (14) elapses (13) after the brake is released (9) and applied (11), which period is a percentage time increment added to the period between previous release/application during braking (7), or a previous application/release during acceleration (8).</p> |
