7-(1-Pyrrolidinyl)-3-quinolonecarboxylic acid derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> in which A is CH, CCl, CF or N, R1 is hydroxyl, hydroxymethyl or mercapto and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or (5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-yl)methyl, with the proviso that, when R1 is hydroxy, A is not CF or N, or pharmaceutically acceptable hydrates, or salts thereof, are useful as antibacterials and animal feed utilization promoters. |
