PURPOSE:To make stabilized spinning possible and industrially and advantageously obtain fibers having a high strength and elastic modulus without problems of fiber breakage, etc., by melt spinning an aromatic polyester capable of exhibiting melt anisotropy using a specific nozzle. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyester capable of exhibiting anisotropy in melting is melt spun through a nozzle having nozzle holes arranged in multiple rows, i.e. 3 or more rows, preferably 5 or more rows and 12-30 holes/cm<2> perforation density, preferably at 300-400 deg.C. The resultant melt spun fibers are preferably wound at 100-200m/min speed or pulled down. A copolyesater consisting of 20-80mol% p-hydroxybenzoic acid residues and 20-80mol% p-hydroxynaphthalene-6-carboxylic acid residues, etc., is preferred for the above- mentioned polyester.
