An automatic remote control device is proposed which serves to transmit low-frequency data signals and speech signals via a two-wire line. The automatic remote control device is disposed between one end of the two-wire line and a local radio transceiver station. To achieve interference-free transmission of the data signals and speech signals, the remote control device (FE) has two parallel arms (Z1, Z2). One arm (Z1) contains a remote control unit (FBE) known per se which identifies the transmission criterion during speech transmission. The other arm (Z2) contains a series circuit comprising a first modem (M1), a remote data evaluation unit (DFE) and a second modem (M2). The remote data evaluation unit identifies the transmission of data signals and, in such an event, actuates a switch (SCH) which interrupts the connection between the remote control unit and the radio transceiver station (SE). <IMAGE>
