PURPOSE:To be able to atomize liquid state fuel satisfactorily without the help of its flow characteristic by a method wherein mixing chambers where fuel and atomizing medium are contacted and mixed are installed in an atomizer and a specific nozzle supplying fuel to the mixing chambers and a plurality of holes for atomizing medium are installed. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 31 for coal-water slurry, which is constituted in such a way as to prevent fuel from flowing in the center part and cause the fuel to flow in the peripheral part, brings the slurry into liquid film state and supplies it to a plurality of mixing chambers 15 installed in an atomizer 13. As the coal-water slurry in liquid film state is satisfactorily contacted with the atomizing medium, there is no local difference in the ratio between the mass flow rates of the slurry and the medium and the generation of case particles is prevented. The medium supplied from the holes 14 for the medium installed with the angle of 45-90 deg. to the liquid film is spouted at the angle crossing over the film of the slurry to transmit vibration caused by turbulent flow generated by the high speed flowing of the medium to the liquid film and the fuel is atomized by the disturbance of the liquid film.
