The invention relates to an individual-string holder for stringed instruments, in which the tensile force of the string (11) is absorbed with the aid of a spring (14) which engages on a lever system, e.g. a one-armed lever (13). The string (11) engages at another point of the lever system. For different lever angles, a force which can be adjusted to the tensile force of the string (11) and is constantly equal in the opposite direction thereto is modified by the spring (14). <IMAGE>
