PURPOSE:To execute the multi-gradation simultaneous expression with significantly many numbers of the gradation by outputting the first color code based upon the first color data and generating a multi-gradation color code based upon the second color data. CONSTITUTION:From image memories 1 and 7, the color data of 12 bits are read, given to a mask control part 8 and the color data of 12 bits reads from a memory 7 are given to a multi-color control part 9. The control part 8 selects either of color data (a) and (b) based upon a mask control signal MASK and gives color data (c) to a look-up memory 2. Color code signals (d), (e) and (f) corresponding to red, green and blue are read from the memory 2 and given to the control part 9. The control part 9, when a multi-color control signal MCC is a multi-color color mode, outputs color code signals (g), (h) and (i) based upon the signals (d), (e) and (f) and the data (b) and gives them to D/A converters 3, 4 and 5. Thus, the color expression of 16,000,000 colors can be executed on a CRT monitor 6.
