PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain optimum turning an running performances in all running conditions, by determining the allocations of torque to right and left rear wheels in accordance with steering force, a function of vehicle speed and rear side input torque when a lateral force is produced at a front wheel, which is exhibited as a steering force in a front wheel steering system. CONSTITUTION:A power inputted in a rear drive shaft 4 is transmitted to left and right rear wheels 11L, 11R through output shafts 6L, 6R and the like in accordance with a transmission torque through hydraulic clutches 7L, 7R. In this arrangement, a control unit 17 receives signals from a vehicle speed sensor 14, a steering force sensor 15 and the like, and detects the generation of a lateral force at a front wheel due to turning and external disturbance during running. Further, during rectilinear running with no external disturbance, the hydraulic clutches 7L, 7R are identically controlled by means of actuators 12L. 12R, and therefore, the rear wheels are driven by the identical torque. Meanwhile, upon generation of a lateral force the calculation of a function f(v) of the vehicle speed is made, and further, a torque allocating parameter is calculated in accordance with the thus calculated value, and input torque and a steering force, thereby the allocations of torque to the rear wheels 11L, 11R are determined.
