PURPOSE:To carry out the optimum and rapid starting of an engine by driving a starter for a certain period of time after it is detected that the engine speed is nearly zero by means of a revolution detector. CONSTITUTION:An engine stopping condition detector 7 detects that the engine speed is below a defined value and nearly zero from the period of ignition signals in the primary winding 6 of an engine. And, due to the low level output at this time, a flip-flop 10 is set after a defined time via an inverter INV 1 and a delay circuit 9, and the set output Q becomes a high level. Thereby, the output of an OR gate G2 becomes a high level and a starting timer 4 is driven through an AND gate G3 to restart a starter. On the other hand, when it is detected that the engine is in a started condition by means of an engine starting condition detector 8, the engine is arranged not to be restarted.
