A device for measuring the ink film thickness in printing machines contains a rigidly mounted main roller 2 and a movably mounted measuring roller 5 which is pressed elastically against the main roller 2. Fastened respectively on the end faces of the main and measuring rollers 2 and 5, respectively, is a measuring disc 14, 15, 16, 17, which respectively form with one another a measuring gap 18 and 19, respectively. A light source 20 and a photosensor 21 for detecting the width of the measuring gap are respectively arranged in front of and behind the measuring gap 18, 19. In this arrangement, provision is made of a first transfer roller 8 which is mounted capable of pivoting about the axis of the main roller 2 against a spring force and runs on the main roller 2. In order to keep shocks away from the measuring instrument, provision is further made of a second transfer roller 10 which is mounted capable of pivoting about the axis of the first transfer roller 8 against a spring force and runs on the first transfer roller. <IMAGE>
