The invention relates to a microfilm camera having a lens and a film gate for exposing roll films or film punched cards. A pressure plate actuated, for example, by a solenoid is arranged over the film gate in order to hold flat the roll film or the film punched card on the film gate, and the film spools for the roll film are arranged on a packing plate. For the purpose of optional exposure of individual frames of a roll film or of a film punched card, the roll film can be moved from the exposure position into a rest position protected against exposure, and back.
