PURPOSE:To measure even a particulate with a small diameter in a large flow rate regardless of a small size instrument by arranging a third mirror on the optical axis of an external mirror type laser wherein a laser tube is arranged on the same optical axis as above-mentioned one between a first and second mirrors. CONSTITUTION:Part of a laser beam amplified by laser tube 7 is transmitted through a second mirror 3 with the reflectance of 96% and directed to a third mirror 5, being midway transmitted through a sample fluid leading path 17. When a foreign particulate is contained in a sample fluid flowing down in the sample fluid leading path 17, scattered light is emitted from the particulate that receives the laser beam. The scattered light from the particulates is collected by condenser lenses 21a and 21b, passes a slit 23, is gain collected by other condenser lenses 25a and 25b, reaches a multiplier photoelectronic tube 19 and a measuring result is displayed.
