PURPOSE:To permit adjustment of an adsorbing force, by providing a plurality of adsorbing ducts positioned between a driving pulley and a small diameter pulley, slidingly in contact with the rear surface of a flat belt and connected with an adsorbing air source through opening and closing means, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A blower 54 is rotated and valves 57 and 58 are opened to adsorb air onto a flat belt 51 from an air adsorbing port through both adsorbing chambers 52b, 52c and hoses 55, 46. When a printed paper sheet 28 is transported with its edges gripped by pawls 27 of a chain 26 in this condition, the paper sheet 28 is adsorbed onto the surface of the flat belt 51. One of the valves 57 (or 58) is closed when the paper sheet is thin and both the valves 57 and 58 are opened when the paper sheet is thick or hard. Thus, the paper 28 is brought into contact with the flat belt 51 and adsorbed by it over its long distance covering the two chambers 52b, 52c.
