In a method for recording a video image from a television screen onto a photographic film, it is provided to control the beginning and the end of the exposure time by temporally sequential picture-change pulses of the video signal. For this purpose, a device for carrying out the method has an electronic device (7) to which the picture-changing pulses of the video signal are applied and in response to a first switching signal (10) blanks the television screen, and in response to a second switching signal (12), which indicates the opening of the shutter of a camera (13), is triggered in such a way that the television screen (4) is unblanked during a prescribed number of picture-changing pulses. <IMAGE>
