PURPOSE:To improve data transfer speed by providing two sets of the access means consisting of an arm and head on a disk and overlapping a seeking motion and the read and write motions of data between the access means. CONSTITUTION:Two sets of the arms 21, 22 having a head on the disk 1 are provided to discriminate whether the zone exists on mutually different cylinder when the data of plural zones are read and written on the disk 1 or not. In case of belonging to different cylinder, the disk controller simultaneously gives the prescribed command like seeking for the nearest cylinder to the arms 21, 22. For instance, the read and write motions are commanded when a seeking motion is completed before by the arm 21 and the succeeding motion is commanded after its completion. The arm 22 performs the same motion as the arm 21 so that the time necessary for the seek is offset by the read and write time. In this way the time loss is reduced and the data transfer speed can be improved. |
