PURPOSE:To reduce eddy-current loss and reduce decrease of effective track width due to an interlayer insulating layer by making the interlayer insulating layer laminating soft magnetic thin ferrite films between plural magnetic thin films that constitute a magnetic core. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic core of a magnetic head is constituted by laminating metallic magnetic thin films 6-9 successively between substrates 5 and 13 made of glass, ceramics etc. Ni-Zn ferrite thin films 10, 11, 12 are laminated respectively between metallic magnetic thin films 6 and 7, 7 and 8 and 8 and 9 that constitute the magnetic core. As electric resistivity of ferrite thin films 10-12 is several OMEGA.cm-10<4>OMEGAcm, they function as the interlayer insulating layer and reduce eddy-current loss in the metallic magnetic thin films 6-9. Further, their magnetic resistance is less than several Oe at the highest and show good soft magnetism, and the interlayer insulating layer itself makes magnetic operation, and accordingly, acts as an effective track. |
