PURPOSE:To obtain a structure having good durability and good earthquake- isolating property by a method in which the bearing portion of a superstructure is slidably supported on the bearing portion of a foundation, and a brace material with a spring is set between the adjacent foundation and the bearing portion of the superstructure. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 2 of a small frictional property, e.g., fluororesin sheet, etc., is laid on the lower bearing portion 1 of a foundation B, and the lower bearing portion 4 of a superstructure A is put on the sheet 2. A brace material C consisting of a steel tube 6 and compression coil spring 9 is attached crosswise between upper and lower bearing portions 1 and 4. The foundation B and the superstructure A are allowed to slide in the horizontal direction but excessive slide movement of the superstructure A is suppressed by the brace material. The transmission of seismic forces from the foundation B to the superstructure A can thus be greatly suppressed.
