PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a defrosting control device by a method wherein the device is provided with a temperature detecting means, detecting the temperature of a pipeline connected to the refrigerant inlet side of an indoor side heat exchanger, a set temperature memorizing means, memorizing a boundary value temperature for switching room heating cycle to defrosting cycle, and a flow amount switching means, for switching flow amount. CONSTITUTION:When an outdoor side heat exchanger 5 is not frosted yet, the suction refrigerant temperature Ts of a compressor 1 and the inlet pipeline temperature (t) of an indoor side heat exchanger 3 are high while they are reduced gradually in accordance with the advance of frosting, therefore, defrosting is effected when the inlet pipeline temperature (t) of the indoor side heat exchanger 3 becomes lower than a set pipeline temperature (t1) (flow amount Lo). The frosting can be detected more properly by changing the set pipeline temperature (t1), (t2), (t3) under the flow amount of inlet pipeline Lo(weak), Me(medium), Hi(strong). When the inlet pipeline temperature has reduced to a temperature lower than the temperature (t) in accordance with respective flow amounts, defrosting operation may be started.
