Apparatus for driving circular tunnels and roadways by means of a shearer

The subject matter of the invention is an apparatus, equipped with a shearer (1), for driving circular tunnels (6) and roadways. The cutting drum (8) of this shearer (1) rotates about an axis (5) directed towards the heading face (3) and is mounted on a supporting arm (4) which can be swivelled through at least 360 DEG about an axis (7) concentric with the tunnel axis (5). A bracket (2), which carries a hub (11) arranged concentrically to the tunnel axis (5) on its rear side, holds the shearer (1) in its working position. The hub (11) is longitudinally displaceable directly behind the bracket (2) but is held by a bearing (14) in such a way that it cannot rotate about its longitudinal axis (5). The hub (11) is guided in a universally adjustable manner in the bearing (14) arranged on a front cross piece (16) and is supported with its rear end (11a) in a universally pivotable manner on a rear cross piece (36). Consequently, a horizontal and vertical adjustment of the shearer (1) is possible to a limited extent, as required for driving curved tunnel or roadway sections. <IMAGE>
