PURPOSE:To detect the collision of signal by both communication media by detecting whether or not transmission signals of the two different communication media are coincident, and setting a repeater to be in the communication sending state in two- direction at the same time when they are dissident. CONSTITUTION:Two-way communication media 2, 3 whose specifications differ from each other are connected by a 2-port two-way signal repeater 1. When a signal M1 is generated on the medium 2 and a signal detection circuit 4 generates a signal S1 as the result of detection of H level. No signal is generated on the medium 3 at this point of time, and a detection result signal S2 is at an L level. Thus, a gate control circuit 9 outputs an H level control signal EN 2 to a signal transmission circuit 7 and a coincidence detection circuit 8 and outputs an L level control signal EN 1 to a signal transmission circuit 6 and the circuit 8. As a result, the circuit 7 is in the transmission enable state and the circuit 6 is in the transmission disabled state. When the signal M2 is generated on the medium 3 and the circuit 8 detects the dissidence of the signals M1, M2, then the H level detection result signal S3 is sent to the circuit 9, The circuit 9 brings the signal EN 1 to the H level to make the circuit 6 in the transmission enable state and the signals are collided with the media 2, 3.
