PURPOSE:To make an output signal stable by tracing a magnetic recording medium and a base plate for a magneto-resistance element provided coaxially to one and the same shaft in response to the fluctuation of the shaft so as to always keep the gap between the magnetic recording medium and the magneto-resistance element constant. CONSTITUTION:The base plate 5 is not driven with a shaft 2 but moved incorporatedly with the shaft 2 with respect to the vertical direction. Further, the tip of a rod 8 is fitted to a recess 7 to lock the base plate 5 to a housing 1. If the shaft 2 is fluctuated vertically, both the magnetic recording medium 3 and the base plate 5 are displaced incorporatedly with the shaft 2. Since the relation of position between the medium 3 and the base plate 5 in the vertical direction is unchanged, the gap between the medium 3 and the magneto- resistance element 4 is not fluctuated. Thus, the output is made stable regardless of the fluctuation of the shaft 2.
