PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel cell power generation plant having a high efficiency and a good response to the load by supplying at least a part of the direct current produced from a cell stack to an electricity-heat converter and using the part of the direct current as a thermal source for heating cooling water used to cool the cell stack. CONSTITUTION:When a rapid load reduction is caused, excess fuel and air as well as an abnormal voltage increase of a cell stack 1 are arisen. The abnormal voltage increase is detected by an overvoltage relay (OV) to produce a detection signal which then causes a switch 8 to be closed causing cooling water to be heated with an electricity-heat converter 9 by using the excess direct current. The thermal energy of the heating is accumulated in a steam accumulator 7 as steam energy. When a switch 3 is opened and the connection between the cell stack 1 and a cross converter 4 temporarily breaks off due to temporary suppression of the work of the converter 4 caused by either its disorder or overload, short circuits or the like of an electric power system from which an a.c. output is supplied to the converter 4, the whole direct current is recovered as heat by means of the electricity-heat converter 9. |
