PURPOSE:To enhance sharpness by incorporating a means for forming an unsharp positive image in combination with at least one of emulsion layers and a compound capturing the oxidation product of a color developing agent but not contributing to image formation. CONSTITUTION:A suitable means for forming an unsharp positive image is a low-diffusive compound for forming an unsharp positive image in combination with the silver halide emulsion layer for forming a color negative image, and containing a diffusion resistant coupler. Said compound is allowed to release a diffusion resistant dye having main absorption in the main absorption wavelength region of a color developing dye by the reaction with the oxidation product of the color developing agent. The compound does not react, or changes color in the area where the diffusion resistant coupler does not form a dye image. As a result, the color image formed by the coupler is reverse to that formed by said positive low-diffusive nonreacted or color changed compound, and an unsharp positive image is formed by its low diffusivity, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive material to be restrained from rise of the minimum density and enhanced in the gamma value. |
