<p>The cable (11) incorporates various electromagnetic radiation transmission lines or electrically conductive wires (13) has its ends terminated in connector units (17 and 18) which may conveniently be cannon plugs or sockets. For the purpose of testing the conductive integrity of every conductive element (e.g. 13,14,15,16) within the cable a control unit (100) and a detedetector unit (200) are plugged into the respective ends of the cable, each unit having its own microprocessor (20,50), switching unit (21,69) and sensor unit (22,52) with keyboards (26,56), displays and controls. The battery power source (23) is incorporated in the control unit (100). By sequential depression of keys on the keyboard, specific conductors are selected and small test current is applied by control unit (100) under control of the microprocessor (20,50) and sensed by the detector unit (200) under control of the microprocessor (50).</p> |
