PURPOSE:To dispense with an expensive pulse forming condenser, by separating a plurality of charge fields into a pulse charge field and a DC charge field and operating the latter as the pulse forming condenser. CONSTITUTION:Conventional DC high voltage is applied between the discharge electrode 8 and dust collection electrode 9 of the DC fields in the downstream side of an electric precipitator (hereinafter referred to as ESP) among a plurality of fields of ESP. Herein, the discharge electrode 8 of the DC field is connected to the discharge electrode 10 of the pulse field being the dust collection chamber in the upstream side of ESP through a high voltage high speed switch 6 and a pulse adjusting reactor. Therefore, the charge accumulated to the DC field is sharply discharged to a charge field at the time of the continuity of the high voltage high speed switch 6 and, as a result, pulse high voltage having sharp rising is applied between the discharge electrode 10 and the dust collection electrode 11.
