PURPOSE:To eliminate the brushing generated on a film, by contacting the film formed by dip-coating with the vapor of an org. solvent capable of being subjected to the azeotropic distillation with water. CONSTITUTION:For example, in coating an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a substrate 6 to be coated is immersed in a coating tank receiving a coating solution and pulled up to be brought to dry to the touch to form a film on the surface of the substrate. An org. solvent 4 capable of being subjected to the azeotropic distillation with water such as ethanol or methyl acetate is put in a heat insulating container 3 having a hot water introducing port 1 and a hot water discharge port 2 respectively mounted to the lower and upper ends thereof to ill the space in the container 3 with the vapor 5 of the org. solvent. The substrate 6 to be coated is vertically received in the space of the container 5 and the film generating brushing formed on the surface of the substrate is contacted with the vapor 5 of the org. solvent 4 to eliminate brushing through the azeotropic distillation of the moisture condensed on the film causing brushing and the org. solvent.
