PURPOSE:To exclude erroneous operation and the unclearness of the boundary with a sensing area and to prevent functional deterioration and an electric leakage, by converting the change in pressure when an optical mat is trod to optical change. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber mat main body 1 consists of an upper protective member 2, an optical fiber 3 and a lower protective member 4 and the fiber extends to the outside of the mat main body 1 at both ends thereof to constitute an optical cable 5 which is, in turn, connected to a control circuit box 6 by a connector 11. In the box 6, an optical signal is sent out at constant intensity and a constant cycle from a light emitting element 9 by a drive source 8 and again penetrates the cable 5 through the fiber mat 1 to return to the box 6 and is converted to an electric signal by a light receiving element 10. This signal is converted to a signal for opening and closing an automatic door or for invasion sensing alarm by a processing circuit 61 to be sent out.
