PURPOSE:To prevent the shading correction from being affected by dust or flaw given to the holding glass of an original film or a light optical system by fetching a shading correction data while the focal position of a projecting optical system is displaced. CONSTITUTION:While a subscanning system 6 has no film or a non-picture part of a placed film is exposed by a lamp 1, the focus is moved from the film face to the outside of the object depth toward the projective lens 7 in order to avoid the effect of dust or flaw on the plane glass holding the film original, the light optical system and the projecting optical system, the object is read by a line sensor 11 to fetch the shading in an image memory. Then the focus F of the lens 7 is restored to the original position and the line sensor 11 reads a film picture.
