PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of processing of translation by allowing the operator to designate parallel phrases easily before the start of translation. CONSTITUTION:A cursor key 130 moves a cursor to a position of 'adders' and a magnification key 133 is keyed, then cursor is magnified to the next word and in keying again the key 133, the cursor covers 'adders and comparators.' In this state, in keying a parallel phrase indication key 120, an edition control section 4 inserts start information '[' and end information ']'of the translation unrequired phrase before and after the range designated by the cursor. That is, the section 4 obtains the position of words 'adders and comparators' in the original buffer and inserts a code corresponding to each information before and after the words. After the state, in keying the translation indication key 100, the translation section 5 starts the translation of the original subjected to parallel phrase designation.
