PURPOSE:To separate a transferred material without reference to its size and to prevent an image carrier from damaging by providing a separation blade which separates the transferred material from the image carrier by making the front end part of the transferred material to abut and a means which cleans the separation blade every time the transferred material is separated. CONSTITUTION:The separation blade 15 is pressed by cleaning members 31 and 32 of upper and lower parts. When a solenoid 30 is driven, the separation blade 25 is moved against the energizing force of a spring 28 to leave a photosensitive drum 11 and when the solenoid is turned off, the blade is moved forth with the energizing force of the spring 28 to contact the photosensitive drum 11. The solenoid 30 is turned on after the form is separated and the separation blade 25 is moved back, so that the front end part is cleaned by the upper and lower cleaning materials 31 and 32. Toner which falls from the separation blade 25 as a result of the cleaning is received by a receiving dish 33.
