<p>PURPOSE:A hydrogen adsorbing membrane having improved action on selective adsorption of hydrogen contained in a diffusing gas, obtained by dispersing metallic powder having hydrogen adsorbing ability into a plastic having gas permeability. CONSTITUTION:Metallic powder 12 having hydrogen adsorbing ability is dispersed into a plastic 11 (e.g. polyethylene) having gas permeability to constitute an aimed hydrogen adsorbing membrane 13. Powder such as Pd, Pt, Ni, Ti, Fe, etc., having <=about 1,000Angstrom particle diameter is preferable as the metallic powder 12. When a hydrogen-containing gas is brought into contact with one side of the prepared hydrogen adsorbing membrane 13 under pressure, the gas diffuses through the hydrogen adsorbing membrane 13 and hydrogen is adsorbed on the metallic powder 12 during the diffusion. In the operation, since the product l1Xl2Xl3 of longitudinal dimension l1, lateral l2 dimension and thickness l3 as a factor acts on the hydrogen adsorbing ability of the hydrogen adsorbing membrane 13, hydrogen adsorbing effects are extremely improved.</p> |
